Lately I have been cultivating the habit of reading ingredient lists on products and getting more and more anxious everyday about their harmful chemical contents. Silicones, Sulphates, Parabens are common ingredients, just to name a few and all are highly notorious for their ill effects. A lot of people have been asking for natural and cruelty free recommendations so I was quite happy to come across Juicy Chemistry.
It is a Coimbatore based brand with an interesting story of origin and claims to be 100% organic. So to test it out I ordered a Red Raspberry Seed & Spearmint day cream and Tea Tree & Charcoal facemask. I have been using the cream for a couple of months now and it has surprised me.

Cost: 15 grams for 150INR (also availaible in 35gram pack for 35o INR)
Claims: Our day cream combines the natural skin protecting benefits of red raspberry seed and carrot seed oil. Both these miracle ingredients contain natural SPF (between 25 and 50) and they are harnessed in this cream to protect you against UVA, UVB, and UVC rays. This cream also doubles up as a moisturizer. Less than a pea-size amount required as the cream is not laden with synthetic additives or water. Made with a blend of pure nut butters and rich oils, the cream may feel oily on the skin if excess applied. So if you’ve forgotten your umbrella before you go outside, no problem, just slap this cream on!
Ingredients: Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba Oil), Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin-E), Prunus dulcis (Sweet Almond Oil), Argania spinosa (Argan Oil), Rubus idaeus (Virgin Red Raspberry Seed Oil), Wild Forest Honey, Beeswax, Butyrospermun parkii (Shea Butter), Mentha spicata (Spearmint Essential Oil), Jasminum officinale (Jasmine Essential Oil), Daucus carota (Carrotseed Oil)
The products are shipped along with a wooden spoon and foil seal on the plastic tub package. The protective middle lid is sent separately. One is supposed to remove the foil and put this protective lid on. The wooden spoon is a fun and very utilitarian addition because every time you dip your hands in germs and moisture tend to spoil the products. Since these products are organic and have no chemical preservatives chances are it will expire faster. The product come in simple screw on lid semi transparent plastic tubs. I do like the simple water-colour splash branding on the stickers, but looks like there is a spelling mistake for Raspberry!
When I opened the foil, I was a little disappointed by the quantity since the container seemed only half full. The consistency of the product is exactly like frozen coconut oil so one needs to scoop out some and rub it between their fingers to heat it up and melt. Once melted it feels like oil. I was apprehensive about applying it to my face as I have an oily T-zone but post application only in a little while it gets completely absorbed in the skin without feeling or looking greasy. Once the cream is completely absorbed the skin feels healthy and hydrated for a long time. It does have a very strong spearmint fragrance, exactly like Wrigley Doublemint Gum – perhaps even stronger! I don’t quite like strong fragrances so that is a downside for me but others seem to like the fresh feel. I have quite enjoyed using this Day Cream and the natural SPF is a bonus.
- Organic – Free of synthetic ingredients.
- Made in India
- Affordable unlike other organic brands.
- Hydration without greasiness
- Poor Quantity to Price Ratio
I am impressed by this day cream’s performance mostly because it provides hydration as good as any other high-end beauty brand minus the synthetic ingredients. With the number of harmful chemicals used nowadays we would be compromising on our own wellness if we don’t make a conscious effort to move towards organic products so I highly recommend you check this brand out. Do let me know if you have tried any other products from them or any other organic brands that you like in the comments below.
